Configuring/Activating Monster Insights

I’m slowly warming up to wordPress at this writing. On my dashboard recently, I had a prompt to activate some google fixture, MonsterInsights. I repeatedly clicked for a code to past in a textbox below the box to click, but when I pasted the code in I kept getting some sort of error message – at any rate it was not accepting the code and was prompting me to go through those same steps over again. I deactivated, then deleted that plugin rather than keep enduring that nonsense.
It’s possible I may find some use for monster insights at a later point. I wonder if I was doing something wrong, but as best as I could tell I was following the instructions.
