We have an issue on our news website (https://londonlovesbusiness.com/) where the recent posts widget does not show the latest posts. If I deactivate the speed optimizer plugin then the issue disappears.

In addition the same plugin is causing a problem with Optimole Image caching plugin. We have rolled it back to the last version that worked so the site shows the correct images and we are testing it on a staging website (https://staging4.londonlovestech.com/).

If both the latest version of Optimole Image caching plugin and speed optimizer are activated then the post images only show a ‘placeholder’ image which is not our placeholder image. If I deactivate either Optimole or SG Speed Optimizer plugin then the correct featured image shows.

I have reached out to the developers at Optimole and they have said after extensive testing (over a month) that the problem is not with their plugin. It does seem to be with the Speed Optimizer plugin.

Further the speed optimizer plugin gives the error: failed to connect to Google when checking URL for caching.

Please can you offer any advice on how to fix this issue. I have been advised by SG hosting to deactivate the plugin and reach out to your team to get the issue fixed.

    Hello @znwd,

    Thank you for your feedback!

Regarding the first issue with the latest posts widget: if those posts were scheduled for publishing and were not showing after being published, this is most likely caused by old website cache. Our WordPress developers are aware of a similar issue with scheduled posts and the website cache not being purged after publishing in the latest version of the Speed Optimizer plugin (v7.7.4). A fix is currently being worked on and should be included in the next version release. In the meantime, you can either downgrade to v7.7.3 of the plugin or manually purge the website cache.

Regarding the conflict between Optimole and the Speed Optimizer plugins: in general, it is not a good practice to use two separate plugins with overlapping functionalities, as this can lead to various issues. For example, using Lazy Loading for images from two different plugins can lead to similar issues. If this is indeed the case, you should deactivate any duplicate features and use them only through one of the plugins.

If none of the above is true and the website in question is hosted at SiteGround, please post a Help Desk ticket through your SiteGround Client Area so that we can investigate the case in more detail.

As for the last reported issue, I believe you are referring to the Site Performance test, which utilizes Google PageSpeed. This functionality is implemented through their PageSpeed Insights API, which has some limitations. The reported error occurs when the maximum number of API requests for the hour or the day is reached. This is only a temporary error and should be cleared after a bit of time.

    Best Regards,
    Stanimir Panayotov
