Do I need to register to BOTH PayPal Checkout AND PayPal Card Processing to use PayPal as my payment method?

I keep getting a notice under Payments that I haven’t finished setting up Paypal card processing.

When I started that process, it said I had to have a wordpress.COM account….why? I am using wordpress, of course, but not hosted on wordpress.com but software provided by ww.wp.xz.cn.

I am very confused. Thank you in advance.

    Hi @mondolizzie,

I think you are confusing two different plugins.
The “Payments” section that requires you to connect a wordpress.com account is coming from the WooCommerce Payments plugin: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/plugins/woocommerce-payments/
This plugin has nothing to do with PayPal Payments. For any questions regarding WooCommerce Payments, I suggest reaching out to their support.

The PayPal Card Processing is an optional feature from PayPal Payments and there is no need to enable it.

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

Thank you for the reply. I was notified through the plug in page that PayPal Payment is being stopped as of March 1 and I had to go to PayPal Card Processing. So you see my confusion.

Sorry to not understand ANYTHING to do with woocommerce. Their how-to guides are dreadful and assume the user is some sort of expert.

    Hi @mondolizzie,

The old Paypal Checkout plugin will be retired March 1st.

PayPal Payments is the new default PayPal integration going forward and it offers the same payment methods from the previous Checkout plugin and more new features, like the PayPal Card Processing or Vaulting.
The PayPal Card Processing is a feature that provides credit card fields on your site, similar to how it works with Stripe or the WooCommerce Payments plugin mentioned above.

If you’re upgrading from a previous PayPal extension, then I suggest taking a look at the upgrade guide: https://woocommerce.com/document/woocommerce-paypal-payments/paypal-payments-upgrade-guide/
We are working on extending the documentation with more setup information, but if any questions come up then don’t hesitate to let us know.
    Thanks!

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

@niklasinpsyde I noted in my post https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/serious-concerns/ that the WooCommerce Payments “Get Started” link at the bottom of /wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-settings&tab=checkout page adds to the confusion of the inconsistently named WooCommerce PayPal Payments plugin’s upgrade process. No-one from Plugin Support has reviewed my concerns.
