1. Upgrade to WordPress 2.2.3, at least.
2. It’s the first option on the Reading Options page. What do you see *instead* of the Front Page option?
I see :
Blog Pages
Show at most: posts
Syndication Feeds
Show the most recent: posts
For each article, show:
Full text
Summary
Note: If you use the <!–more–> feature, it will cut off posts in RSS feeds.
Encoding for pages and feeds:
The character encoding you write your blog in (UTF-8 is recommended)
WordPress should compress articles (gzip) if browsers ask for them
Hmm this was installed with Fantastico & 2.2.3 dont seem to be an option there. Not sure how to upgrade manually. Thought the page option started with 2.1 ?
Bob
Yeah, I don’t trust automated installers. My guess is that their installer ain’t all it’s cracked up to be, which is why you’re missing the option.
Avoid Fantastico, do it yourself.

Well I manuallt upgraded to 2.3…
The Options Still do not show up..
I have also deactivated all plugins ..
and changed to the default theme.
Still No options available for defining
the Front Page.
Guess its a Mystery … Or its a feature that isnt there LOL
Bob
Huh. Well, I learned something today.
That option only shows up if you actually have any Pages created. If you don’t have any Pages written, then obviously you cannot set one to be the Front Page. 🙂
Although something must have gone wrong with that upgrade…

Well I did have pages created couldnt get it
to work so I deleted the blog .. and h e database and did
a complete fresh install.
THAT resolved it.
Thank you for your responses.
Bob
