Hello, I had installed the “Backwpup | Archive Extension” as soon as it has been available and apparently it worked for choosing the zip format. Now with v. 5.1 is this extension still needed?
Why in my Advanced Settings, Jobs settings, the format shown in the menu is TAR and not ZIP?

Another issue is the backups before April have, under the data column, the icons of: files / database / plugins:
The April backups (both for the local storage and the Dropbox one): files / plugins. Where is the database? I didn’t change anything in the settings.

    Hi,

    Thanks for reaching out!

You no longer need the “BackWPup | Archive Extension” with version 5.1 — the option to select ZIP format is now directly available in the UI. To check or change it, go to Advanced Settings > Job Settings > Archive Format and select ZIP from the dropdown. If TAR is still showing and you can’t change it, could you please send a screenshot so we can investigate?

Regarding the missing database in your April backups:
Can you let us know how you performed those backups — was it through a scheduled job or by using the Backup Now button? Also, please try hitting Backup Now and check if the database gets included.

If it’s still not working, feel free to share a screenshot(after hiding sensitive information) of your job configuration and backup history — we’ll be happy to look into it!

Hi @saranshwpm all right, I deleted the archive extension (I suggest that it should be automatically deactivated and deleted when the user update the main plugin to the 5.1 version), and now the ZIP format is shown in the UI.

April backups: I did nothing new, these are scheduled backups running monthly, as it was in the previous months. I have checked the settings of the current backup and they appear to be correct.

Backup Now: it worked, the local backup shows the 3 icons and the name is “2025-04-08_19-10-42_xx_DBDUMP-FILE-WPPLUGIN.zip” that differs from the 1st April one “2025-04-01_06-45-20_xx_FILE-WPPLUGIN.zip”.
I will let you know if the next scheduled backup will be created as a full backup or not.

Why the Backup Now action doesn’t store the backup also remotely if the main settings have for example Dropbox or other third parties storage?

    Thank you!

    Hello,

The current “Backup Now” button performs a manual backup that saves only to the local server, regardless of the selected storage in your job settings. This design choice was meant to simplify manual backups, but we understand the confusion it has caused.

As a workaround, you can go to Advanced Settings > Jobs > Access to Jobs and click “Run now” on the specific job — this will trigger the backup using the correct job settings and storage.

The good news is — we’ve already planned a better experience for this!
In version 5.2, you’ll be able to trigger backups from individual jobs, storing them to your configured remote destinations like Dropbox, S3, etc.

We really appreciate your patience and feedback while we improve the flow.
