Connect error

Hello! I’ve tried to connect with Google Drive and Dropbox, but I get “The Link You Followed Has Expired” error when clicking the “complete setup” updraftplus button, just before finishing the cloud connection. How to solve this?
Thanks!

Hi,
Do you have any security plugins or firewall installed? Can you try to temporarily deactivate and reconnect again? Do you still get the same issue?
Thanks,
BryleHello, I don’t have any security plugins or firewall installed and still getting the error.
Hi,
To troubleshoot, can you try temporarily deactivating all other plugins you have and re-authenticate your remote storage. Do you get the same issue?
Thanks,
BryleI have the same problem. security plugins and all other plugins except Updraftplus plugin. but still it didn’t work.
Could you try wiping your UpdraftPlus settings and then reconnecting to Google Drive?
To do this, goto the ‘Advanced Tools’ tab and you will find the ‘Wipe Settings’ link on the left hand side at the top. This will completely reset all UpdraftPlus settings. Once you have done this, try and reconnect with Google Drive, do you still get the same error?
The same thing is happening to me.
This used to work just fine. Recently, I tried sending the backups to a Google account that’s part of a Google Workspace account, and that’s when it started failing, but I was still able to send the backup to my personal Gmail drive.
Today, even that is not working.
I have the same problem!
Same issue
Yes me too its bull**** probably because they want you to use their paid storage
How is this marked as resolved? I do not see the solution and am experiencing the same problem since Dec. 30.
Hi,
Apologies.
Can you make sure that you are using the latest version 1.16.46?
Check also any other plugins that is using Google Drive or Dropbox that might be causing conflict with the plugin.Best Wishes,
BryleHi all,
The error message:
“The Link You Followed Has Expired”
Is a generic WordPress Error.
In the past this has been solved by temporarily deactivating all other plugins and trying the authorisation again.
Google searching the above message also brings up various guides suggesting to increase the following in your php.ini
post_max_size
max_execution_time
max_input_timeIt’s possible that the POST arguments in the authorisation URL are to long and having low settings for the above php.ini settings or a security module such as mod_security is blocking the request and causing the expired link error message.
Please check with your hosts.
If your error message is not exactly the same as the above, then please open your own support request and provide the backup log.
Best Wishes,
Ashley
I am now further into the problem. Despite the error message, google drive was in fact authenticated. However, I continue to have the problem of not having the backup uploaded to google Drive. AND, my problem is now more serious. Updraft has done something in the background that is not only preventing me from deactivating it, but from deactivating all other plugins.
I was just able to deactivate other plugins to debug this, but as soon as I tried to deactivate Updraft, I get a server error.
No resolution here. Mine just holds about halfway way across on the blue bar never completed a backup at all
@tracyandersonmd @gorhad it sounds like you both have different problems, please open your own support threads and provide the backup log (gorhad) or php error log (tracyandersonmd).
Best Wishes,
Ashley
