Given up on this at present.
Now shows the error 100% of the time, even when using a rollback, and at the moment is un-usable.
Hello,
Thank you so much for reaching out. The notification ‘The connection to the server failed. Try again!’ is usually the result of a slow server and results in a server-side timeout. An overload or lack of server capacity or a too small maximum execution time can affect this.
Please change the max execution time in your .htaccess File (in the root folder of WordPress) to 40 or higher if required:
“php_value max_execution_time 40”
You can also use the WordPress plugin “WP Maximum Execution Time exceeded” for this.
Furthermore, if your website is hosted on a server with low server capacity, you can turn on the Blog2Social Legacy Mode to reduce server load. In Legacy Mode, the plugin will load contents one after the other (asynchronous loading) instead of loading all at once. Some web hosting services also limit the number of outgoing connections. In this case, the Legacy Mode makes sure that connections to your social media accounts are loaded successively.
To activate Legacy Mode you can go to “Blog2Social -> Settings -> General -> System” and tick the box saying “activate Legacy Mode”.
Please let me know if this solution works for you.
Hi Guys,
Rather than messing around with the .htaccess file (as the server is being upgraded in a few days), I tried ‘Legacy Mode’ which works fine.
…apart from Reddit that is, as that just allows posts when it feels like.
I just hope that ‘Legacy’ mode doesn’t translate into ‘this mode is being disabled soon’.
Otherwise great support yet again!
Hello,
Thank you for your reply. The “Legacy Mode” is available for every user regardless of the subscription. Please do not worry, it will not be disabled.
