    I have installed the Meow AI Engine and configured the settings with the OPENAI key. When I tryto generate content I get the following error

    Error while calling OpenAI: Connection refused

    Hi @tsdjim,

    Do you live in China? If yes, you should know that China asked all the hosting services to block access to OpenAI… You’ll need to set up a proxy to access it. Have a look here: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/error-while-calling-openai-6/

    Hi Jordy

    No, I am in the UK and my site is hosted on awardspace, could they have blocked the port.

    I have used another plugin using chatgpt and that works fine.

    Mmm, I am not sure. Nobody has this issue except users in China. So it’s difficult for me to tell you why it happens.

    All good then 🙂 As long as you are happy, it’s fine.

    On my side of things, I am using WordPress functions (as recommended by WordPress), not the native PHP functions. Using WordPress functions also allows filtering and proxy support. It could also be why it’s not working (another plugin/process just interfering in this), but I doubt.

    Could also be bad luck, and the servers were down temporary when you tried. Let me know if you find something 🙂 Cheers!
