Connection Timeout Issue with Duo Security API

Last few days I am unable to sign in into my dashboard. The login is struck at the duo two factor screen with following error message

file_get_contents(https://api-3d2abbd1.duosecurity.com/auth/v2/ping): failed to open stream: Connection timed out in /home1/environm/public_html/wp-content/plugins/duo-wordpress/duo_wordpress.php on line 543

I checked it with my hosting provider and they said the issue is with the plugin developer side. Currently I have disabled the plugin because I wasn’t able to access the dashboard while duo security installed. This problem is occurring for last few days only. Please suggest a fix.
