    Hey Steven

I decided to start a new topic since that topic was started by someone else and there issue may have been resolved.

    Well here goes!

I just did the update for 0.7.2.4 Connections This morning and now my social media icons are not showing. I deactivated the plugin and deleted all the files, templates and etc. just to start over clean.

I installed the updated connections plugin 0.7.2.4 since I do not have a copy of the older version. Re-downloaded my cMap template and installed it. I’ve re-entered some entries and the social media icons are still not show. I haven’t touch any of the coding I’ve left them all at their default.

But before the social media icons would stack vertical instead of horizontal and i was trying to figure out why, but now that I’ve reset everything its not showing at all.

I’ve input the twitter and facebook links. Hit update and when I view it online it doesn’t show but when I go back to the connections edit entry, nothing is there like I’ve never entered the information at all.

Sorry for the million and one questions, I’m aiming to complete this project at the beginning of february. Plus I sent you an email on connections pro via help desk about something else but I’m in no hurry for that one.

    THANKS A LOT STEVEN!!!

I really like this plugin, and I am determined that this is the one I want to use after researching for a month an a half!!

Can you check out this FAQ? I think it’ll help to resolve the issues you’re experiencing.

    http://connections-pro.com/faqs/why-does-the-template-layout-look-wrong/

Also, I have identified an bug where under certain circumstances where the icons will not show. Look for update 0.7.2.5. That should be the last bug fix release for awhile.

    Thanks Steven!

I will await for the update. I’m just going to continue typing in the information. I’m just doing a back up on Wordpad with the information. So I can copy and paste.

I did look into that FAQ and I checked for the shortcodes and I do not have any of those shortcodes. So I’m crossing my fingers hoping that the 0.7.2.5 can save the day.

Also I tried the connections shortcode

    [connections str_home_phone=’Phone’ str_home_fax=’Fax’ str_cell_phone=’Cell’ str_work_phone=’Phone’ str_work_fax=’Fax’ str_personal_email=’Email’ str_work_email=’Email’]

In the html tab of the editor for the directory. It did not work. I’m hoping the update will solve these.

Thanks again for the speedy response!!

The 0.7.2.5 will only address the missing social media icons.

The rest of the layout issues are being cause by the theme. Switch to the default theme once.

Did you try wrapping the Connections shortcode inside a [raw] shortcode? Try this:

    [raw][connections][/raw]

NOTE: [raw] will only work if your theme supports it.

The string changes will require an update to cMap. I should have time to post that later tonight.

My social Media icons are back.

Now that I’ve attatched the [raw] to to the connections it has fixed my icons from stacking vertical. so without the raw quotes my social icons stacks vertical and the background color for connections doesn’t show.

SO my icons are back and the [raw] fixed my icons stacking and entry background.

I will wait patiently for the string changes

    THANK YOU STEVEN!!!

    Hey Steven!

    Sorry!
I just realize another thing. Whenever I put a social media url (for example facebook) that has a https://www.facebook.com/fanpage_name, and save it; Connections will put the social media url as http://https//www.facebook.com/fanpage_name
Which goes to a none existant page.

I began checking all my facebook social media links all they all have the http://https//………

I began changing a few of them to http://www.facebook.com/fanpage_name; but when the link is click it goes to the page and does a redirect to correct link change.

**I was trying to find the string to change work address and home address just to Address. May I ask whats the string name? Thanks

    Thanks again!

Well, Connections automatically adds the http:// if it is missing because if a user does not put it on, the link will try to find it internally to their WP site and get a 404.

Your the second person in two weeks with absolutely no one previously finding this to be an issue.

Why would you need https:// to a public profile page? It’s a relatively easy change I can put in an update, but I would like to understand more of why it is important.

It wasn’t an issue till I read your reply, it is a issue after inputting a ridiculous amount of entries and then realizing that you have to go a re-edit all those entries all over again.

It wouldn’t be a problem if it was notified earlier. I’m just stating something that wasn’t working correctly, for me. If I’m visiting a facebook fanpage and it gives me their correct url with an https:// then thats what I would use. I’m just saying.

Its not like I was saying it as a complaint, but was just letting you know but obviously I’m not the only one that ran into it, since I’m the second persom. I’m sure other people will notice when then want things to run a specific way.

Thanks for the response, I hope this will be the last time that I have to ask for support.

    Thanks

Thanks for giving me some more details. I didn’t realize Facebook was now serving with https. I wonder if that only happens when you’re logged into Facebook, which would make sense. I’ll have to check this out.

At any rate, I definitely need to account for this in the code. It’ll be in the next update.
