consistent markdown rendering

    Markdown appears to render beautifully when I view a post. But there are times when rendering does not occur.

    There are 2 places where I need the rendering to happen:

    – in search results
    – in the /blog view

    in both case the content is unrendered, but visiting the post produces rendered markdown.

    In some cases, it seems theme dependent.

    twenty-seventeen seems the best in that it displays rendered content for the /blog view, but it also fails on search results.

    Is there something obvious I’m missing?

    I think I’ll answer my own question. The posts I imported came from a Drupal site. None of them had an excerpt. The excerpts can be generated by some themes, but that’s not necessarily consistent.

    After I installed the advanced excerpts plugin all of my rendering issues went away.

    I’m not 100% clear on why.
