Hello there @xsjado, yes shortcodes in content are not supported due to incompatible plugins causing many issues.
I would suggest Stylo theme, which has both subscribe and contact form support.
If you want to stick with free themes, uou can always insert Contact form shortcode to Subscribe Form custom shortcode input – which is available in almost all free Themes except Hardwork and Orbit.
Hope that helps, Alex

The style is messed up, the captcha doesn’t show up and I can’t send it. Maybe it’s an incompatibility between the 2 plugins?
Oh no, beacause you are using Hardwork theme, which doesn`t support Subscribe form – you can use other free themes like Construct, Countdown or download free Eclipse theme.
After that you should be able to insert Shortcode to Subscribe input:

I encounter problem with the 3 themes. Maybe because they are for subscription forms and not contact form?
Well yes – because CSS styles are prepared only for subscribe forms, and this is a kind of a “work around”, so if you are using some special contact form fields then it could be messed up.
But basically it should work somehow: https://niteothemes.com/dev/?cmp_preview=true this is a default contact form 7 inserted to subscribe input in Countdown free theme.
Only textarea needs a little bit extra styling – like transparency, but otherwise it works out of a box..
