Container alignment option missing if theme.json exists

Hi,

I found a strange bug. I created a theme.json in a generatepress child-theme folder to use the new color palette option of wordpress 5.8. As soon as a theme.json exists (even if it’s empty), the alignment options disappear from the container block. A really full width is then no longer selectable.

Here are two screenshots. Only difference is the presence of the theme.json.

Hi there,

is the alignment option available on other blocks?
As my understanding to the themes.json is you have to define the various settings available – including Top level or Block level options. So chances are if you don’t specify Top level or Block level support for alignment then it won’t be available.

Hi David,

yes, the alignment option is available for other blocks – like the wp core blocks image, cover, video or table. It also doesn’t affect my custom blocks (acf). As far as I can see, it only affects the container block right now – but of course I haven’t tested all blocks and can’t guarantee that it’s still missing in another block.

Strange, that option should show up as long as the theme has support for align-wide, as we’ve defined here: https://github.com/tomusborne/generatepress/blob/3.0.4/functions.php#L36

Hey Tom,
really strange. It doesn’t matter if the theme.json is empty or if there’s anything inside it like:
```
{
    "version": 1,
    "settings": {
        "layout": {
            "contentSize": "840px",
            "wideSize": "1100px"
        }
    }
}
```
The align/wide option of the container block is missing in any case. I don’t need the theme.json right now, but was playing with it purely out of interest – I just thought it would be helpful for you guys.

This is still an issue and completely messes up styles based on alignwide settings.
