Container / Banner Width Discrepancy

    When choosing a banner image for the 2016 theme WordPress said:

    “Suggested image dimensions: 1200 x 280”

    but all content below it is narrower, maybe 800 pixels.

    I believe I’ve successfully removed the right hand sidebar. I think the narrower content is because of a container. Is it easy (or indeed advisable) to make this wider?
