Content excluded from emails

    Our blog sends out a daily fishing report to our subscribers and in that report we feature a “Product of the Day”. This is something we’ve done for years manually by selecting an image, copy/paste a description, then format into the section.

    We have finally been able to connect our BigCommerce store directly to our blog with the BigCommerce WordPress Plugin. This gives us the ability to select a product directly from WordPress as a block in our posts. This formats the product beautifully for us and was indented to help us automate the procedure of advertising our products.

    On the very first use, we discovered that MailPoet has completely omitted all of the content from the BigCommerce block. This isn’t the first time that content has been omitted from out mailers, but I was never able to determine why it happens.

    Is there documentation describing this behavior somewhere I could reference? Could you explain why this behavior exists at all?

    Not being able to promote our products in our mailers is kind of a big deal.`

    So by poking it with a stick long enough I’ve figured out that WooCommerce widget partially works to pick up BigCommerce products. No purchase button, but it displays the image and description.

    Now I need to figure out the formatting as it’s a separate block, whereas our product of the day was integrated within the body of the post before.

    Is there a way to purposely exclude elements from rendering by using a CSS class or similar? I want to prevent a particular image from being rendered from within the post so I can add it manually to head the product widget in the mailer.

    Based on what you described, this seems to be a compatibility issue with the BigCommerce plugin you are using so I’d recommend reaching out to their support directly.

    Is there a way to purposely exclude elements from rendering by using a CSS class or similar? I want to prevent a particular image from being rendered from within the post so I can add it manually to head the product widget in the mailer.

    Hopefully, someone can help you achieve what you want.

    Hi @guicmazeredo and thanks for the reply.

    I appreciate the link to codeable, but I don’t think they would have the answer either without knowledge of your code and how you parse a page to see what you will include/exclude. Is there documentation anywhere I can reference?

    I was hoping maybe there was an easy way to ensure an element/block would be excluded from appearing on the newsletter. As I stated, I’ve had elements before that were not shown, but it wasn’t important enough at the time to see why before. Not sure I can go back and figure it out or not.

    I’m afraid we don’t have any documentation on this as it is not out-of-the-box functionality and it’s not possible to exclude elements from rendering by using CSS.

    As Gui has mentioned, resolving this issue would require custom coding and it’s outside of our scope.

    I figured out a working solution.

    Mailpoet tends to not render anything out of the ordinary, so I just used a Meow Gallery Gutenberg block to display the image on the site, and Mailpoet just ignores it in the newsletter. Now I can format my post notifications properly.

    MailPoet is very picky about what it will render, so I knew I just needed to poke it with a stick long enough before it submitted.
