JosJee,
usually, the main reason for this is that they keyword you are using is too frequent or in the stop words list which by default the mySQL FULLTEXT engine ignores.
An option is to try turning on Boolean mode from within the plugin settings which ignores these two conditions.

Thanks.
I run a political site and there are many posts with short, three or four letter words, representing the different political parties.
I tried to turn on the Boolean option but this does not help.

What results do you get for the Boolean option?
Still none at all?
Am assuming you get perfect results when the plugin is disabled?

When the boolean option is on or off, for certain words I don’t get results.
When I disable Better Search I do get results for the same query.

Is it private, or can you post your site url and the terms you are searching?

The site is private but I can provide you access. Do you want me to contact you on your private site so you can login?
