Content width shrinks when content aware sidebar added

When the right side bar is emptied and I add a content aware sidebar, the content on my main page gets indented. The AREA Vacations and Best value, choice, and service remain where they are. However, all the content below that shifts to the right about 1.5″ – note that the content is full width with default right side bar. The contents moves only when adding the content aware sidebar. I tried changing column width using html with no luck.

The main page is a static page and no template is being used. Any suggestions as to how to use content aware sidebars without padding the left side of the content?
