Please share the screenshot and the full shortcode which you have add in a page so I can take a look in to it and try to understand the scenario.
Also share the name of your theme because there will be a chance where theme author have add filter for post excerpt.

Thanks for the detailed information.
Can you please remove the shortcode double quote (“) and add them manually again. Sometimes what happens while copying the shortcode, the double quotes are converted to special characters and do not work.
Please try by adding manually again. I hope it will work for you.
Meanwhile I will take a look at the theme, I think Islemag theme is no longer supported by by Themisle as per their blog https://themeisle.com/themes/islemag/

Thank you. I understand what you are saying and typed the double quotes by hand, but that didn´t help. The rest of the shortcode is working fine. Yes Islemag is no longer supported, thats right.

Thanks for your response. It’s very strange. It looks like there may be some filters or hook which is modifying plugin functionality.
No Issue. Let me check with the IsleMag theme. There is a Git URL available. I will check News & Blog Designer Pack plugin with IsleMag theme and let you know about it.

Thanks for your patience. I have just checked the News & Blog Designer Pack plugin with islemag theme but I did not find any issue in that.
It is displaying proper word limit as we have set in shortcode parameter. Please refer below screenshot.

Can you please provide me your active plugin list? so I can take a look is there anyone who is modifying the plugin excerpt limit.
I am having the same issue with content_words_limit=”5″ not working.

Have you tried to remove the double quote within plugin shortcode and add them manually again?

I think so plugin is not taking word limit for post excerpt content. I will check this but meanwhile please confirm the above question.
Problem solved. I did have way more than 20 words in Excerpts. I deleted the Excerpts completely and the Content_Word_Limit now works. My double quotes were ok.
