Hi @thirdeyeblind82 , thanks for reaching out.
In WPFunnels, conversion tracking currently works based on page view conversions. While this allows us to track that a conversion has occurred, it does not provide an option to determine which specific button the user clicked before being redirected.
If you want to track the redirect source, you can do so by using UTM. For this setup, you’ll need to use WPFunnels widgets for your CTA buttons and add UTM parameters to the external redirect URL. Once the user is redirected, those UTM values can be tracked on the external platform or through your analytics tool.
Let me know if you have any questions or need any assistance.
Thanks!
The conversion I want to track is the click on a button (any button on that page).
Does WPFunnels consider this a conversion?
Hi Alessandro, thanks for your question!
At the moment, the default WPFunnels does not support tracking conversions based on clicks to external links or clicks on individual buttons. Conversions are only counted when a user moves to the next step within the funnel (for example, navigating from one funnel step to another).
So, if a page contains buttons that redirect to external URLs, those clicks won’t be counted as conversions. However, if all buttons redirect to the next funnel step, then the conversion will be tracked correctly.
I’ve already taken note of your use case and shared it with our team as an enhancement request. It’s been added to our backlog, and hopefully in a future update we’ll be able to support button-click or external-link conversion tracking directly within WPFunnels.
Thanks for the valuable feedback!
