Convert external JSON data to web page

Hi,

I want to convert JSON retrieved from an external source using an API (Weatherlink) to something more formatted.

I have a starting point from a coding point of view from here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ProWordPress/comments/18kwk48/displaying_json_data_in_wordpress/ BUT have never done anything this before in WP.

I’d like firstly to understand how to add code to the site that does anything – just echo “Hello World” would do – before getting stuck in to the heavy-duty coding. I’ve been googling for days but cannot find a walk-through that describes how to actually implement some code to do <something> on a page.

If anyone can forward me to a good, simple walkthrough or help me direct I would appreciate it.
