I am up to date with my WP and just recently downloaded NextGen. I use Bluehost and Genesis Prose theme.

I have been using the WP Media and gallery that came with WP and installed the Enhanced Media Library to organize better. I just switched to NextGen. Is there a way to move/merge/migrate (not sure of the correct word) the WP galleries to NextGen or do I need to do that manually?

Thanks for your help and time.

@marcihess – You can import the folders of the WordPress Media Library but that will also pull in all of the various images sizes being generated by WordPress itself as well as any others your theme or other plugins using the Media Library may have created.

It would be much cleaner for you to simply re-upload the images into NextGEN Gallery as with the import method you will need to go back and exclude and/or delete the “extra” images that will be imported from the folder.

    Thanks!

Thanks for responding. I feared this would be the answer. I have 1000s of photos already up. But…do I still need the Enhanced Media Library with Next Gen? It seems that if the pics are all in galleries, I might not need that but would appreciate your thoughts on it. Again, many thanks.

@marcihess – Enhanced Media Library is not affiliated with NextGEN in any way, so whether or not you continue to use it its entirely up to preference – I’d say if it makes things easier to organize, then definitely feel free to keep it.

    Thanks,

    Drew
