    Hello,

My site was giving me 503 (service unavailable) errors and reported high load average.

I contacted my hosting provider and this is the transcript of that chat:

(10:05:48)JD EThank you for waiting Mr Witt, and from what I got so far, the server cache is not working properly for the site, as a cookie is disabling or conflicting with the server cache. In addition, When this happens, the server will load the original contents of the site, which uses more server resources as compared to loading its cached version. In the long run, this can build up and slow down the site, or cause an error in the worst-case scenario.I am now checking the plugins and themes on the site, to help identify which one of them is creating the cookie. Please wait a moment.

    (10:11:15)Mr Witt Sparks (milles)Thank you

(10:18:32)JD EThank you also for staying on chat, and from what I got, the Popup Maker plugin is creating the cookie that conflicts or disables the server cache. For this case, I would recommend disabling the Popup Maker plugin temporarily, before contacting its developers to help enable caching on its cookies.

(10:20:02)JD EOnce disabled, please clear also the CloudFlare cache using the steps from the link below, to help apply the changes as soon as possible.

I’ve disabled the Popup Maker plugin; can you help with this issue so that I can re-enable it?

    Thank you.

If you need to see the site with the plugin enabled, it’s on my staging site: https://assessmentgeneratorcom.stage.site/

    Hi @wittsparks

Thank you for getting in touch, and we’re happy to help.

By default, a cookie is available when creating a trigger. You can turn it off when creating one.

    Here’s an example of that.

To learn more about ‘Cookies’ option settings, please refer to this link here.

On the other hand, our plugin doesn’t have a feature to manually disable a server cache or alter its functionality.

The cookie set on the popup only affects the browser cookies, and not the Cloudflare, server cache or hosting server.

We tried to check the staging site https://assessmentgeneratorcom.stage.site/, but it has a basic authentication.

    Please see:

Could you please disable the basic authentication so that we can check it?

Meanwhile, we suggest checking our troubleshooting steps here to identify if there are plugin/theme conflicts.

Let us know how what happens. Thank you!
