I have a page created using Elementor.

I want to use content on this page on another page – but I want to edit the content. I know I can use the template library to copy content but when I paste it into the page, I cannot edit it without editing the template – and that means it changes everywhere.
Is there a way to copy content and store content that can be pasted and edited without it changing content in other places? For instance, if I have a text box with black background, I could save it, then change the background to yellow but it only changes where I edit.

    thanks

You can keep the template in the library and then insert the template into another page and edit it as you want, regardless of the original template.

You are welcome to learn more about our library at the following link: http://docs.elementor.com/article/60-library

    I tried that.

I inserted a section from the library containing 3 icon boxes – but when I click on the inserted content, the Elementor Library tab opens with an option to edit template. No way to edit the content on the page.

So, am I doing something wrong or misunderstanding. I still cant’see how to edit on the page an item inserted from the library.

Once you insert the template into the page it permanently disconnected from the library. If you want to save the new design to the library, you can re-save it as a template.

If you want to embed a template to the page you can do it using the Library widget by Elementor Pro.

Ah – OK, thanks for using bold for insert and embed – I hadn’t realised that dragging the element onto the page embedded it. To insert, I have to use the insert button.

Thanks for your patience – it’s a great plugin!
