• Hi,

I just installed wordpress to my pc using WAMP.

Now, I have a blog consisting 2000+ posts in WORDPRESS.COM – mostly text but also maybe 100 pictures scattered here and there. No bells and whistles and not much comments, just long, long (presently private) blog.

Can anyone please tell me, how to move all content to localhost? Just use the XML export from wordpress.com? But how about pictures?

    Cheers,
    Jooken

  • Hello Jooken,

Have you looked at the official guide?

    Yes.

And unless you have a BUSINESS PLAN or higher (which allows you to install custom plugins), that’s pretty much your only option.

    But how about pictures?

Images in your media library should also be imported and all URLs rewritten.

You should be able to install a backup/restore plugin and just backup the entire site and copy to localhost. No importing or rewriting necessary –

Thanks for replies, seems it worked perfectly 🙂

Well, that depends on his WordPress.com plan. Only BUSINESS Plan supports installing arbitrary plugins.
