Corrupted Toolbar
-
Since installing AET I have had problems with toolbars when trying to edit modules. I use the Divi theme and Divi Booster on my WordPress site, which is not yet live, though I can allow access if necessary, and provide screenshots of what I have tried to describe below. Rather than re-write what I have written to Divi Booster, I have included the message I have sent to them below, which explains the problem.
================================================================================
I have lost most of the tools on the module-editing toolbar, getting a very basic version of a tool bar.
I disabled all my plug-ins except Divi Booster, and the problem remained; I then disabled Divi Booster, and the problem still remained. Even though I no longer had any plug-ins active, when I switched to safe mode, the standard toolbar reappeared.
I then re-activated only Divi Booster, and the standard toolbar had again disappeared, only the very minimal one being displayed again. So even if Divi Booster is not responsible for the problem, having it activated causes the problem to manifest itself.
When editing a page when only the minimal toolbar is displayed, if I click ‘edit on the front end’ (something I don’t usually do), the page I am editing tries to switch to the usual front end, but after displaying just the standard header, it then displays a slightly different wireframe view (so I could no longer edit on the front end if I wanted to), and when I now edit a module, a different (i.e. neither the standard nor the minimal) toolbar is displayed, with a better range of editing tools than the minimal toolbar available, but not the same as the standard toolbar. I have to do this every time I edit a page to get a usable menu back.
I have tried clearing the browser cache, exiting WordPress and logging in again, re-booting the computer, and re-installing WordPress via the option on the Themes page, but none of these made any difference.
I only became aware of this problem after installing the plug-in ‘Advanced Editor Tools (previously TinyMCE Advanced) (in an attempt to prevent WordPress from stripping <p> and <br> tags from pages), but cannot be sure that this was the cause of it; although I have now removed this completely, it has made no difference. I have tried re-installing this plug-in and enabling / disabling various options on it to see if it would reset anything, but it did not work, and I have now removed it again. I do suspect that this might have caused the problem, but am not sure – maybe it is incompatible with Divi and has corrupted something. I have checked the plug-in’s support forum and there is no mention of a similar problem, though I will post there after I have sent this to you.
I also had another plug-in enabled, Disable Gutenberg, but have now deactivated this, with no change to the problem.
