• Hello!

My website keeps flickering on an off to show an error “Could not connect to database: This site is currently experiencing issues. Please try visiting at a later time. Error: 2002”.

Not sure if it’s related but on the backend, the error log keeps reading “Warning: mysqli_real_connect(): php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name has no usable address in /var/www/wp-includes/class-wpdb.php on line 1982”.

Any chance someone can tell me how to fix this? I’m not very WP savvy, so please break it down for me in basic terms!

    Thank you!

  • Hello @cossabackup I’m sorry to hear about your website flickering on and off showing database error.

May I know when this usually happens? Probably during after you publish an article, or during a certain time of the day? It would give us better idea on the state of your database.

“Could not connect to database: This site is currently experiencing issues. Please try visiting at a later time. Error: 2002.”
This means your WordPress site is unable to connect to its database.

“Warning: mysqli_real_connect(): php_network_getaddresses: getaddrinfo failed: Name has no usable address in /var/www/wp-includes/class-wpdb.php on line 1982.”
This indicates that WordPress is trying to connect to the database but cannot find the correct address for it.

Can you also confirm that you are currently hosting with Godaddy?

Let me know how it goes.

    Hi @jaygumanid,

Thank you so much for your response! This is actually the first time we’ve ever noticed this error, so it began happening a couple hours ago. Nobody was doing any work on the site.

And yes, I can confirm we currently use GoDaddy!

@cossabackup: I would recommend that you contact the support team at your host GoDaddy. They should check whether the database service used by your project is available.

@cossabackup I second @threadi’s recommendation. At this stage, seemed like Godaddy support will shed better light on your database service’s status.
