• Due to the plugin automatic update today, the version changed from 3.5.0 to 3.6.1, but immediately after that, when I saved the snippet, the message “Could not create snippet. Request failed with status code 404” appeared. I can no longer save.

The JSON response message is code “rest_no_route”.

When using 3.5.0, it is normally 200 OK.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Hi @itwch,

Can you clarify which version of the plugin you are using – Code Snippets or Code Snippets Pro? If Pro, do you have cloud features enabled?

    Hi @bungeshea,

    thank you for your reply.

I’m using Code Snippets (not the pro version).

    Hi @itwch,

We’ve just released a patch. Would you be able to check whether this issue is persistent in this version?

    Hi @bungeshea

    Thank you for your comment.

I tried checking with 3.6.2, but unfortunately the situation remains the same and I get “Could not create snippet. Request failed with status code 404”.

Hello- This morning I started to get this same error. I cannot create or update any snippets. Everything was working on Friday, and there have been no updates on my site.

I have Snippets Pro Version 3.6.3 installed. Thanks in advance.

Edit: In looking at the console, it looks like the 404 is happening when trying to access https://*my website*.com/wp-json/code-snippets/v1/snippets

I solved the issue: I had changed my permalinks settings, and apparently that broke Snippets. I restored my previous settings from backup and that solves the issue.

@bungeshea: My guess here is that Snippets can’t resolve when the permalinks structure changes. Let me know if I can help you troubleshoot further.

    Thank you for your comment.

I checked the following in my environment, and it is version 3.6.2.
    The situation did not change.

    1) After exporting and backing up the snippet, delete the snippet, import it again, and save it on the editing screen.
    β†’ 404 error will occur.
    2) Uninstall and reinstall the plugin, import the snippet and save it on the editing screen
    β†’ 404 error will occur.

If you change the version back to 3.5.0, you can save without any problems.

If you have any suggestions on how to deal with this, I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice.

    Thank you.

    G.

To anyone still affected by this change: can I ask how your WordPress URL and Site URL settings are configured? I suspect that there might be a bug in how the WordPress AJAX URL is generated.

    For your reference

    WordPress URL : https://xxxxxx.com/zzzzzzzz

    Site URL : https://xxxxxx.com

WordPress URL and Site URL are different.

Unfortunately, I had to uninstall the plugin because it continued to be unsupported.
