Last night, on the advice of woocommerce support, I was using WP-Staging to create a clone so that they could troubleshoot a problem. The site is quite large, and moved through steps 1-3 without issue. Step 4 though was going on for ages. I left it running overnight and it hadn’t made any progress so I cancelled it.

But woocommerce support noticed before I had cancelled it, that there was no product pricing showing anymore. All that information was gone. (Products were still there but no pricing info.) Also missing are all our event listings.

If WP-Staging has affected my live database this way, can you recommend any fixes?

    Thanks very much.

    Hello,

I’ve already answered to your ticket the following:

first of all, I am sorry to hear that you have technical issues.

Secondly, I can not imagine any technical situation where WP staging could affect any of your live data by the cloning process because the clone is created in new tables, separated by the prefix wpstg_

.From the look into your system info log file I can see that you have currently no staging site at all.

So what exactly did you do right before you noticed that there is data missing in your live database?
I do not assume that you just created a staging site and then data on the live site disappeared. This is technically not possible so something else has likely be done.

If you let me know this I can offer you to have a look at your website to see what happened and if it’s possible to restore your data.

Do you have a backup of your site before you started the cloning process?

Let’s keep our conversation via mail. This makes it easier and faster for me to respond:)

To visitors with a similar issue:

This has been resolved! The database was corrupted due to another plugin. I was able to repair the database with the repair function of phpmyadmin which fixed the whole issue. No data was lost and I need to emphasize that the issue was not caused by wp staging at all.

WP Staging did not affect the live site to any time point.

EPIC HUGE THANKS TO RENE for his swift response and his indispensable help in fixing this even though his plugin wasn’t the issue. 😍 I was uncertain how to move forward and he saved the day!

I’ve bought the Pro version and look forward to using it.

    Thank you!!!
