  • I’m having the exact same issue (WP 3.9.2, Custom Sidebar 2.0.9.7). In addition, the custom sidebar widget stopped loading on pages. I am unable to even select which custom sidebar to use on a given post – I chose the custom sidebar from the drop down in the widgets page, hit Update, and it reverts to select a sidebar.

I have noticed what when I click Select Locations, and the popup doesn’t load, the debug menu fires with the following error:

“wp-admin/menu-header.php:139 – Usage of user levels by plugins and themes is deprecated. Use roles and capabilities instead.
    require_once(‘wp-admin/admin-header.php’), require(‘wp-admin/menu-header.php’), _wp_menu_output, current_user_can”

Edited: I’m using the theme “acens” theme.

Edited 2: I tried changing to the default WP theme, but experience the same issue.

    Any ideas?

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear of the problem you are having.

I have tested it on my test site using latest version of Custom Sidebars plugin and it worked fine without any issue.

The Custom Sidebars plugin displays this ajax error “Couldn’t Load Data From WordPress” message when there is any problem in making AJAX request to the server where your website is host.

Could you please tell me where your site is hosted?
    Are you using SSL?
Is your site behind the firewall?

Can you check the javascript and network console for errors?

Find information about how to open JavaScript browser console and network console :

    http://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/8525/how-to-open-the-javascript-console-in-different-browsers
    http://codex.ww.wp.xz.cn/Using_Your_Browser_to_Diagnose_JavaScript_Errors

Let me know what errors if any you are getting on clicking on the ‘Select Locations’ button.

    Kind Regards,
    WPMU DEV

    WPMU DEV,

[Warning] Invalid App Id: Must be a number or numeric string representing the application id. (all.js, line 56)
    [Warning] FB.getLoginStatus() called before calling FB.init(). (all.js, line 56)

Any help you can give is most appreciated.

    Hi @paulja2014wp,

    Thank you for your reply.

It seems it is conflict issue.

You can just try on your development site using default WordPress theme like Twenty Thirteen and deactivating all other plugins as displayed in the following flowchart to know which theme/plugin is conflicting if any.

    WPMU Dev,

I activated the default template and disabled the plugins as one of the first troubleshooting steps. Didn’t make any difference.

Is there a way I can share with you a private link to the site?

    Hi @paulja2014wp,

Please also test it deactivating plugins and answer my all of my questions that i have asked previously that will help me to get to the bottom of the issue faster.

You can share me the site link through our secured contact form: https://premium.wpmudev.org/contact/
    – Choose “I have a different question”
    – Include my name in the subject “Vinod Dalvi”
    – Include the URL of this post in your message so that I may track this issue better

    Cheers,
    WPMU DEV
