Countdown show only when “Event Repeating” is checked

Hello MEC team

I use MEC as calendar for contests and would like to show the countdown of the remaining submission time.

However the countdown does only appear when I activate “Event Repeating”. Is this a planned behaviour? How can I use the countdown for non repeating events?

Example of a event with repeating on
