Create affiliate from user by php

Hey,
I’m in a situation where I already had many users before I checked the option for each new user to be automatically an affiliate. I’d like to run a script that would convert the already existing non-affiliate users to affiliates but I couldn’t find a way to do it from PHP. I found out that assigning a slicewp_affiliate role is not enough.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
