Create Menu crashes the site
-
Hi all,
I just registered to my blog site and was doing the appearance settings. After clicking create menu button, website crashes and it has nothing to do with my internet settings. I have tried on 3 different laptops and connections. It keeps crashing after clicking that. It works fine in other settings regarding my website but I cannot create a menu for it. I am in need of help ASAP as I cannot move on without creating a menu. All help will be truly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Twenty-One theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.
If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.
I have done both what you said and the problem with menu creating is still occurring. Also I cannot upload an image from my documents as a media file. Using my dashboard seems really clunky and I don’t know why, it keeps crashing when posting something or editing them. Should I do anything with my web settings? Maybe that will solve the problem. Because I can’t post or edit anything in the meantime and it is really frustrating as this is my first experience with such a blog website.

Ok, try downloading WordPress again, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings.
Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.
I didn’t know that I need the WordPress app downloaded on my computer. I was actually using it from the web, maybe that was the problem. It asks me to download AMP (Apache, MySQL, PHP) to run it. I will try after downloading those programs. Hope those will work!
You don’t need any of that, please follow the instructions in the reply above specifically as written.
