Creating a multimedia library

Hello

I have a doubt on how to solve my situation. I have a folder with about 1500 files of pdf’s, images, videos, etc… and I would like to upload them and create a page with a search bar so that the users can find stuff. Would that be possible to do just by uploading the files in the media folder or will I have to create an individual entry for the 1500 items? Is there a “smarter” way to do it?
