• 1) do you have to duplicate your entire site to create a staging site?

    2) the site in question is a multiple site (currently just one domain- would it make a difference if there was more than one) and is 230G large

  • 1) Staging is meant to be an exact duplicate of live.

If you want to strip down a site then I would call that a development site.
    .
    2) 230 GB is not large it is massive. Are you sure you mean 230GB not 230MB?
Most sites I have worked with are between !50MB and 3GB

    6,000 posts, 48 pages, a picture intensive architecture/design site.

we’re updating quite a bit and have 24 plugins.

still think it’s massive? your feedback is appreciated.

    Does still sound over sized.

Unless my maths is wrong ( it’s early and using my phone ) then that averages 38mb per page which is too much.

It rather sounds like images are uploaded and stored in full resolution. Not a good idea unless you have a specific need.

we upload post images 2000px wide X 96dpi

    feature images are 3200px wide x 144dpi

but we will get a line item tally and see where all the memory resides.
