Creating Drop-down menus in Intergalactic Theme

I am trying to create dropdown menus in my sidebar based on category hierarchy. Link below:
The posts are categorized into two primary categories: 1) Destinations 2) Activities. I can easily create a dropdown menu if I am just using one of the two primary categories, but not both. I currently have them added to the sidebar menu with the subcategories below them, but they do not show up as a collapsable dropdown menu. Rather, they are all displayed at once and the sidebar gets very crowded. I have been told that there is code that can be sued to collapse the subcategories. Does anyone know how to do this?
