I also use Wordfence and Yoast just in case that help. Ive seen past comments that it’s causing issues with wordpress and yoast
Hi, thank you for using Persistent Login.
Can I ask how many users you have on your site? What version of PHP and WordPress you have? Are you using the Login History feature? And finally, are you using the fee plugin or the premium version?
Thanks, Luke
Hello Luke Im using the latest PHP 8. Im using the free version and plan to upgrade to the premium version but I dont want to spend on getting the premium if it’s breaking my site.
Hi,
Thank you for the information, and can you tell me how many users you have on your site please? I’m wondering if this has something to do with the error.
There are only around 700. This has only happened after the last update.
Thank you for the information. And do you use the Login History feature? I’m just trying to narrow down the cause of the error.
Thank you for confirming. Are you able to test slowing down the background user count of Persistent Login? There is a filter to reduce the number of users counted at one time.
It may be that Persistent Login, Yoast SEO and Wordfence are running a background task at similar times, maxing out your servers resources.
Here is a guide on how to filter the user count, please try counting 50 users at a time to see if this helps. https://persistentlogin.com/how-to-change-the-speed-of-the-user-count/
I would recommend adding the filter before reactivating the plugin.
I can try this but the critical error happens when I actually try to update the plugin to the latest version. The moment it installs a critical error occurs. If I roll back the plugin straight away it works again
It would be good to try just to confirm that isn’t the issue.
Is it also possible to test if updating with Yoast and/or Wordfence deactivated works? I haven’t had any other support requests that mention this combination of plugins issue for quite a long time now, I thought if this were the case more people would be in touch as they are very popular plugins, but it’s worth seeing if the combination of plugins is the issue here.
Hi, I’m closing this thread as it’s been over a month since I last replied. If you are still having issues, please open a new support ticket, thank you
Hello Luke,
So I hired someone to check why Persisent login is crashing my site and it’s because it’s conflicting with the Zohomail Plugin.
The following code is something that is in your current version of Persistent login; onMailError()
this is creating the crash apparently
Hi, I’ll close this thread and it’s a duplicate of the one above. An update being pushed tomorrow should resolve this issue.
