• Hi

I have downloaded the latest version of wordpress however when I try to upoad via ftp I get a ‘Critical File Transfer error – 550/the url of the file: No such file or directory’ message. I kept uploading but about 6-8 files told me there was already that file and gave me the options to rename/overwrite etc.

This is a clean install. I have tried this a number of times now, each time uninstallling/deleting previous installs, then reinstalling with a fresh download etc but the same issue everytime.

Your help would be much appreciated

    Thanks
    Caroline

  • You got this error while trying to upload, right?

The 550 error is a message from the server stating that the account you have currently logged in as does not have permission to perform the action you are attempting. You may be trying to upload to the wrong directory or trying to delete a file.

This problem can also be caused by a firewall with a “no ftp write” permission set.

You may have reached your file storage limit.
