    Hi there,

I am using CryptX on several websites and suddenly it no longer works on some of them.

In the links generated by CryptX, the javascript: part is missing.
    The link looks like this:

    <a href="secureDecryptAndNavigate(...

    instead of:

    <a href="javascript:secureDecryptAndNavigate(...

I already tried disabling all plugins except Elementor, but the problem still persists.

It seems to be related to Elementor.
When I use the CryptX shortcode inside an Elementor Shortcode widget, the link is output correctly.
However, when I use it inside Elementor Text Editor widgets, the javascript: part is removed from the link.

Is there a fix for this?

    Thank you in advance!
    Heiko

    Hi @pbmedia,
first of all, thank you for the tip!

I was able to reproduce the problem locally on my system when I included an email address in a text in Elementor. However, I haven’t been able to find the cause yet.

BUT, as a first workaround, disabling the widgets in the CryptX settings helped me. If this also works for you, I would appreciate your feedback.

I will still try to find and resolve the cause of this strange behavior.

    Hi Ralf,

thank you for checking this and for the workaround.

I tested this on our websites as well and can confirm that disabling the widgets in the CryptX settings does help for regular email links.

However, it does not work when the email addresses are added via the CryptX shortcode — in that case the issue still occurs.

Another problem with disabling the widget functionality is that encryption no longer works in all areas of the website. For example, email addresses in the header or footer, if they are output via a WordPress widget, are no longer encrypted.

So unfortunately, disabling the widgets is only a partial workaround and not a full solution in our case.

In addition, we noticed a small further issue: passing a subject via [email protected]?subject=Inquiry no longer seems to work. Currently, even passing the subject through the shortcode like [cryptx subject="Product Inquiry"][email protected][/cryptx] does not work.

I’m happy to provide more details or test further if that helps.

    Cheers
    Heiko
