Over the last few days, I’ve noticed some strange behavior in the Dashboard when using Google Chrome. Specifically, the Dashboard link in the left nav, as well as the links directly below it, are either not appearing, are appearing incorrectly, or have strange spacing (CSS?) issues. Can anyone else confirm? I’ve witnessed this behavior not only on my own computer but on a colleague’s computer as well. Not a huge issue, of course, since Firefox doesn’t seem to have this issue, but I thought I’d post to see if anyone else is experiencing the same problem.

I’m using the latest version of Chrome (Version 45.0.2454.85 m) on Windows 7.

  • I have experienced this same issue. I found this article on WP Tavern which explains the problem is a bug in Chrome. I disabled Slimming Paint at chrome://flags/#disable-slimming-paint and that took care of it for me.

Chrome 45 has a rendering bug. There is a ticket open on Chrome’s bug tracker about this issue, hopefully they will fix it soon.

In the meantime, here is a workaround to eliminate the issue in Chrome.

    – Go to chrome://flags/#disable-slimming-paint
    – Enable the “Disable slimming paint” option.
    – Ensure that the “Enable slimming paint” option below it is not turned on.
    – Relaunch Chrome.

When you’re done, the final result should look like this:

This will disable the problem code in Chrome and allow the menus to render normally.
