CSS Stylesheet Editor vs. Parabola Custom CSS

This is most likely an idiotic question, but here goes:

I’ve recently modified the CSS for the HMS Testimonial plugin on my Parabola site, and plopped it into my CSS Stylesheet Editor. Should I have put this in the Parabola Settings/Miscellaneous/Custom CSS field instead, or is that just for theme-specific settings?

I don’t know anything about CSS, but followed the detailed instructions given to me by the plug-in author.
