CSS validating: errors everywhere!

Hi there,
2 days ago I’ve purchased this premium theme called Tripod. I didn’t even try to look at the stylesheet or at the files, I’ve just edited a tiny bit the tripod templates editor, created some pages, wrote a few posts and added some photos. I also don’t have any plugin except for Akismet.
Yet when I try to validate the CSS of my site, this is the result:

268 mistakes? How’s this even possible?!
Have the theme been programmed so poorly, or is this my problem? I tried to delete and reinstall everything: nothing changed.
Could you help me solve this mess? Should I try and edit the CSS?
