    Hello,

We noticed a recurring issue with the CSS minifying feature.

When we update our own CSS custom files (they are versioned), it forces the local browser to download the latest version.

However when minifying in WP Optimize is enabled, even if we delete and refresh all WordPress, WP Optimize, server-side and CDN caches, it doesn’t force the refresh of the local browser cached minified CSS file, therefore the user sees sometimes outdated CSS or even broken site if we changed a big part of the CSS.

What is the solution for this? Shouldn’t the minified CSS files be versioned too so that the browser knows it should pull the latest version?

    Thanks

  • @kudu-digital Whenever you make changes to the CSS files you should purge the minified files from WP-Optimize > Minify.

Please purge the minified files and check if it helps to fix the issue?

    Hi, thanks for the response.

So even though the minified files are purged, as far as I can see, the css file version do not change. Therefore local browsers still think it’s the same file, thus don’t download the new one.

I can of course force my browser to refresh, but I can’t do that with all the visitors coming on our website. The new files should be pushed to them somehow, otherwise they will see a broken site.

@kudu-digital I’ll check this with our development team and update you soon.

Thank you for your time and patience.
