Hi,

I am using wordpress 4.9.4 on local host using wampserver. However, when I try to download any plugin or theme in dashboard I get the below error :

cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: self signed certificate in certificate chain.

I tried to edit the php.ini file (curl.info) with cacert.pem as mentioned in various links online but still my download gets failed due to curl 60 error.

Below is the edit line in php.ini file.

curl.cainfo = “C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.6.31\extras\ssl\cacert.pem”

Hi,

this doesn’t have to do with Really Simple SSL but is usually caused by not having an up to date bundle of CA root certificates. What you can try is to download the latest Mozilla CA certificate store here https://curl.haxx.se/docs/caextract.html and replace your current cacert.pem with the new cacert.pem. Thanks for your reply.
I tried downloading cacert from mozilla and followed the steps shared in the document but still getting same error. I tried restarting wampserver services also but same issue.

curl.cainfo = “C:\wamp\bin\php\php5.6.31\extras\ssl\cacert.pem”

What also helps often is to upgrade your PHP version.
