Custom community sidebar opacity?

    I’m using the custom community theme and I’m trying to either put a background on the sidebars or lower the opacity so you can see the background image. I have the layout of the site as an image and basically I need to make it the site. Also, I’ve tried adjusting the height and width of the header and it hasn’t changed. Any ideas?
