Custom CSS is breaking page layout

i am using celestial-lite 3.5.0 on wordpress 4.4.2. i am trying to add custom css to individual pages. i installed “wp add custom css” for the plugin. but when i add css to the page it causes the body to break out of the footer, and the footer sits in the middle of the body. The css i entered doesn’t get recognized either. if i delete the css and preview the page the structure appears the way it should. is there a css plug-in that will allow custom changes without messing up the page structure? I have used this plug-in with other websites and have never had this problem. I am using Windows 7 and the browser is Chrome.
