Yes, I’m still considered a WP newbie, but I’m working on it πŸ™‚

I’m looking to use the “Custom Field Template” plug in to change the post title displayed in the breadcrumb navigation. So instead of “the_post_title” in the nav, I need it to display whatever text I type into the custom field. Any ideas where I could maybe start?

I’ve gone over the WP Codex for Custom Fields, but I feel as if I’m not grasping the concepts. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • I was wondering how you solved this problem…as I too need to replace the breadcrumb title with something I specify. Any input would be helpful, for sure!

You may have different requirements precluding this, but a possibility is to just use the edit permalink feature, or enable the slug box in the screen options.

I’m not sure I follow what you’re saying. How will changing the slug (which I already do to keep the url short) change the title shown in the breadcrumb trail?

Hmm. Seems to be theme dependent, some use slug, others use post title, so may require editing the template to use slug. Sorry for any confusion.
