Custom field with validation

    Hello!

    I am creating a website and I have a contact form where I would like to have a custom field in which the user can fill their personal code.
    For example:
    letter-letter-number-number-number-number-letter

    At the moment, the box is just a text area, but anyone can fill up anything and send it over.

    Is it possible to add some kind of validation that will only allow codes with this format to go through?
    I have tried to download a plugin and read in previous discussions, but the codes seem so complicated for an amateur that I don’t think I understand it.
    A friend of mine told me that maybe a “regular expression” would work, but I have no clue…

    I somebody knows about it, please let me know.
