Custom fields

Is there a way to make custom fields across multiple areas? For example in Client records I have a custom field called Event Date. I want this also to appear in Quotes and Invoices. I think I need to create the field in Quotes and Invoices and then rekey the data each time but I would like the data to copy through to reduce the potential for errors. I don’t think this seems possible so it is nothing major.
PS thanks for the new update, it fixed some things for me and everything is now perfect!
