forget this request. after looking into the way that the plugin handles icons, it is based on file type extension, which makes sense. my need surrounds one offs on known file type extensions, so this approach won’t work.
Hi cq,
If you’re dealing with one-off instances where you want a different icon, that can be achieved by uploading a custom icon.
If you go to Dashboard -> Settings -> Document Gallery -> Thumbnail Management, you’ll notice that there is an option to upload an icon for each of the attachments. This functionality is also included at the bottom of each attachment’s edit page.

that’s a great suggestion. However, when I go to thumbnail management, I get a blank list. I am running the latest version.
I went through and disabled all plugins, one at a time, to see if i had a conflict, but no luck.
I looked on another site that is running it, with an older version. That showed thumbnails, but when I updated, the list went blank.
I also cannot change the icon from the media view, so not sure what’s going on here.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
thanks for the great plugin, btw, i should have said that upfront.
Hi cq,
Firstly, you’re very welcome! I’m glad it is proving useful for your.
For the Thumbnail Management tab, it will only include thumbnails for attachments that have been cached, so sometimes it will be empty.
When the attachment is not listed in that tab, you’ll want to go directly to that attachment’s edit page. From the Meida Manager, accessed via the Media Library Dashboard tab, click the attachment you want to set the thumbnail for, then “edit more details” at the bottom, then you’ll see a place to upload an icon for that attachment when displayed in the Document Gallery.
