Custom Page Type

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could help me solve a small issue I came across. I’ve create a custom post type (hierarchical like Page) and set the rewrite slug to ‘/’ in order to eliminate the slug from the url. Is this a good solution? The problem I have is that if I create a new CPT with the same title of an existing Page, WordPress does not detect the url collision and will not add an integer to the permalink like it does for regular pages ( “posttitle”, “posttitle-1”, “posttitle-2” etc). Does anyone know how to solve this matter?
